Menu planning. Again.

Ever since we started using Angel Food Ministries, we have cut our food budget drastically.  I’m talking, we are spending about half of what we used to on food.  Ah-mazing.

If you haven’t been over to Jane Maynard’s blog, you should go.  She has TONS of ideas, recipes, cool giveaways, etc.  Oh, and every week she posts her menu plan so you can get new ideas.  I’m thinking about stealing her idea.  I’m just not quite that organized.  Yet.

Here’s our plan for this week:

Sunday: Pot roast & Pioneer Woman’s butter bread.  I die for this bread.

Monday: Stuffed Peppers

  • the hamburger, rice & spaghetti sauce were from AFM.  The peppers were from our garden & all of the spices were in my cabinet!

Tuesday: leftovers

Wednesday: NY Strip Steak, mashed potatoes & green beans

Thursday: Spaghetti with meat sauce

Friday: leftovers

Saturday: Sausage, potatoes & cabbage (This is Greg’s pick.  Not mine.  Bleh.)

Food from Angel Food Ministries

As I make the recipes, I’m going to attempt to post them to Tara’s Tasty Treats so you guys can make them, too!  I would also love any feedback & suggestions that you have for other recipes involving any of these foods!

  1. We used the chops and stuffing to have stuffed pork chops. Yes I had a ton of leftovers, so that is what we are eating tonight. Just add green beans or something colorful to make the meal and you are done! All AFM food, I love mine this month as well.
    Nan and Papa

  2. We did AFM for a while a few years ago, but there was so much of it that we just wouldnt use we stopped. I guess that is what happens when you have a picky family 😦

    • Brock is definitely not too big on all of the veggies, but I’m trying to work some of them in. Adrianna will still (mostly) eat anything that we give her but she is starting to develop a few opinions about things that she doesn’t like, so that may change, too.

There are a few things that we won’t use. The milk because Greg and I drink skim and the kids drink soy. The sweet potatoes because I’m allergic so Greg gave them to a guy that works for his dad. Last month we gave a dozen eggs to some of our friends because I had forgotten about the shipment and had just bought 18 eggs.

      <–not too smart 😉

    • Well, thank you for inspiring me to start planning! And, I gotta say, it’s been such a relief this week to have dinner already mapped out. We have been eating so much healthier because I have everything I need in advance 😀 I’m going to have to start stealing some of your recipes though–they look so yummy!
