Day 8 (of 31)

Well, let’s see.

A beauty secret.

Um, before I met my bestie, I never wore makeup or did my hair.  I was in college and my typical outfit was jeans and a sweatshirt.  Or if it was warm, jean capris and a t-shirt.

Because, ya know, I’m versatile like that.

Then Steph came along and decided that I was about 6 years overdue for a haircut as well as a closet makeover.  She did tell me that I was pretty and didn’t need makeup.

See why she’s my best friend?  She lies to me.  A lot.

For the following Christmas, I got a CHI flat-iron and it’s one of the best things that I’ve ever done for myself (from a vanity point of view).  I’ve always had barely wavy hair.  Ya know, the kind that unless you do something with it, it looks like you have constant bed head?  I also have unbelievably thick hair (I’m totally not complaining) which means that when it starts to get any amount of length, it gets super heavy and doesn’t like to stay in a ponytail, hold curl, or basically cooperate in any way, shape or form.

Enter: the CHI.  (Although, I got mine before the owners split and now the CHI-brand flat-iron is a piece of trash (I’ve heard) and they no longer honor the lifetime warranty (also: hearsay) which blows a big one)

I love how manageable it makes my hair.  It keeps it from being frizzy and unmanageable.  I can make it completely straight, put a little bit of an under-flip on it (which is my standard & it also happens to be the style that Stephanie hates the most but I do it anyway because 1. it’s easy & 2. it annoys her) and it even does regular curls.

My point: if you see a real CHI at a garage sale or in a second-hand shop and it actually works?  Buy it.  You won’t regret it.

I haven’t actually tried the newer ones but I’ve heard that they suck and I wouldn’t want you to spend your money on them if they don’t work as great as what I’m making them out to be.  Nobody likes a liar.

I was going to go into the makeup part of my beautification process, but I realized that day 10 is about makeup!  Yay!
